Thornbury - The travelling bear!
Thornbury first came into our lives on 13th. February 2006 when we celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary at Thornbury castle near Bath.
Henry VIII allegedly stayed there with Anne Boleyn - it certainly seems old enough!
One of the Hotel Bears decided that he would like to belong to us! We called him Thornbury (of course!) and he is small enough to become our 'travelling bear' and join us on our adventures!
We had an amazing tower room with an open fire and a private library and a four poster bed and a key so big you couldn't possibly forget to hand it in at Reception! It had a lock to match!
| Ouramazing four poster! Henry Viii and Anne Boleyn slept here so it's good enough for Trish&John!! | John is amazed by the size of the lock and key.Hadn't they heard of Yale locks? |
So the next chapter belongs to Thornbury who quickly developed a taste for the high life!
| Introducing Thornbury! | In the Champagne Bucket on board Arcadia |
| With Trish ,on his first night with us, having dinner at Thornbury Castle | This was at the Crab at Chieveley - Trish&John were in the Hot Tub - but we won't show that! |
| Overlooking the skyscrapers on Hong Kong island from the hotel window | In the lamplight at the Metropole Hotel Monte Carlo for John's Birthday |
| Enjoying the sunshine on the balcony on Arcadia | The amazing temples of Abu Simbel |
| On board Royal Star off the Seychelles | Meeting like minded friends on Arcadia |
His first adventure was a cruise on board Arcadia - where he met some like minded bear friends and drank champagne on our balcony!
He went on a cruise on the Nile and was disappointed not to meet Poirot but marvelled at the temples of Abu Simbel - they were so BIG to a little bear!
Hong Kong was amazing with lots of tall buildings, the Seychelles really pretty though he wasn't too happy about the giant tortoises - sit on a Thornbury and he's SQUASHED!
Last November he went with all the family to Monte Carlo to celebrate John's birthday.
Where will he end up next? Watch this space!
